AEIS Tuition Singapore

The Admission Exercise for International Students (AEIS) is used by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Singapore to assess the academic levels of prospective students who intend to join the mainstream education system in Singapore. The AEIS was first implemented in 2001, and the S-AEIS in 2007.

The AEIS consists of two tests in English and Math, and is conducted once a year in September or October. The S-AEIS is a Supplementary Admission Exercise for International Students who seek admission to Singapore Public Schools in the same year. The S-AEIS is conducted in February every year.

Students who take the AEIS must pass the tests in English and Math to be considered for admission to Singapore public schools. The test is challenging for students from a non-English speaking background, but is necessary to ensure incoming international students are of a similar standard to Singapore students. The AEIS Preparation Course is designed to help students attain the pre-requisite standards for admission to Singapore. The course should be taken 3 to 6 months before the test dates to ensure that the student becomes familiar with the rigours of the Singapore Education System.

The Singapore government has implemented the Admission Exercise for International Students (AEIS) in order to ensure a level playing field for all students applying to local institutions of higher learning. The AEIS is a centralized exercise which allows for international students of different education backgrounds to have a standard comparable to Singapore students prior to admission. This in turns ensures that the international students will be able to assimilate with the local education system on admission.

There is a small change to the AEIS tests effective 2023. For international students applying to Primary Schools,

  • From the 2022 AEIS, there is no longer the English test for international students seeking admission into primary schools. International students must take the relevant Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) test run by Cambridge Assessment English (CAE), and meet or exceed the required scores before they register for the AEIS-Primary Mathematics test.
  • There is no change in format for the AEIS-Secondary tests. International students will continue to take the AEIS English & Math tests

Navigating the Admission Exercise for International Students (AEIS) can be a daunting task. However, with the right preparation, it is possible to ace the tests and get into a Singapore Public School. AEIS Preparation courses are available to help students prepare for the tests. These courses are taught by AEIS Specialist Tutors from the Best Private Tuition Agency Singapore who are well-versed in the Singapore education system. For students who are already in Singapore, the AEIS Preparation course is conducted as Home Tuition. Students still in their home countries have the option to take the Online AEIS Preparation course.
