I started out tutoring part-time in 2010 and in 2012 became a contract tutor at The Young Scholars Tuition Centre, while also carrying on with my private tutoring as well. In 2018, upon graduating from University, I started tutoring full-time and have been doing so ever since. I also currently run the Math and Economics classes for Junior College students at SmartLab while concurrently conducting private home tuition classes for my private students as well. Tutoring for me is more than just educating a student on content, its about being there as a guide and as a friend for the student through their educational journey. Beyond facilitating a deeper understanding in content and providing strategic techniques to tackle problems in examinations, it is also my responsibility to be a positive influence in their lives, whether it be as someone who gives them good advice or even just as a friend they can speak to about any difficulties or challenges they may be facing. Every tutor has the potential to have a major impact on their student’s lives, and my goal is to ensure that my impact is one that contributes to my student’s success, both within and beyond the books. Aside from tutoring, fitness and martial arts is a great passion of mine. I believe that beyond enabling excellent health and allowing the body and mind to operate efficiently, fitness and martial arts go a long way in inculcating important values such as hard-work, team-work, responsibility and discipline, values that I believe are important in all aspects of life, including education. Living a healthy lifestyle and keeping fit is definitely an important part of success, in life and even in education. “Be passionate, be positive, persevere and most importantly, always be yourself”, that’s my key to success and happiness.
