I teach according to the student’s ability to understand, always explain in simple terms with keypoints and concepts patiently, strengthen their observation skills, analytical skills and problem solving skills. I hold a Bachelor’s degree with double majors in English Language and Sociology, an Honours degree, and a Master’s degree in Sociology from the National University of Singapore (NUS). I was a recipient of the Chng Heng Lay Memorial Prize at NUS and the NUS Research Scholarship. I have also published in high impact, peer-reviewed international journals. As an undergraduate, I taught English as a relief teacher at East View Secondary School, Bedok South Secondary School and Temasek Secondary School during my long vacations. I have been a Senior Lecturer at Nanyang Polytechnic where I dedicated 31 years to teaching under the Ministry of Education. I have led the English Language Department and the English Programme, and have taught courses in English, Communication and Classical Music. Additionally, I hold Grade 8 certificates in Piano and Music Theory from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (UK).

I am an experienced exteacher who has taught many students 1-1 or small groups and also taught in private international schools and tuition centers.

For A level H1, H2 Maths, I have been teaching JC students for many years. As my students are from various JCs, so I have many JCs resources. I have taught students from RI, VJC, TJC, DHS, NJC, NYJC, EJC, TJC, SAJC, ASRJC, YIJC, HCI.
I will teach concepts clearly and also teach exam techniques to handle the difficult questions.

For IB, I have many years of experience teaching taught IGCSE extended (accelerated) & Additional Maths, as well as IB SL and HL Maths.
I am currently teaching many international students from UWC, SJII, HCII, OFS, CIS, GIIS, SOTA and Tanglin Trust.

For IP students, I have taught IP Maths for many years and have alot of IP resources and appears from various IP schools. They include schools from RI, RGS, NYGH, HCI, VS, DHS, TJC, St Nic, NJC ,Cedar Girls etc.

For OL students, I have been a Maths teacher in a secondary teacher and taught A&E Maths, and help set prelim papers. I have helped many OL students score Grade A1&2 for their OL Maths .

For primary students, I have taught many gep students. Also relief teach in Yumin/Elias Park pri school and help set exam papers. Taught a P4 student from Rosyth and grades went up from fail to AL3 for prelim exams this year. I have the whole comprehensive math resources from Rosyth school, which I used for my lessons.

I am a very patient teacher and able to explain concepts clearly. Help many students regain confidence in Maths. I also build good rapport with the students so they are not afraid to ask questions and clarify any doubts with me

I am a BSc Psychology graduate with a deep passion for helping others. And as a student who used to struggle with education myself, I am eager to support students with their education goals. My background in psychology, combined with my experience as a psychological research officer with Singapore Prison Services, has equipped me with a deep understanding of learning processes and effective communication strategies. I will tailor my teaching methods to meet each student’s unique needs, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. I am committed to helping students grasp concepts confidently and develop a love for learning.
